Boys Weekend - Airshow 2011 Trip (Click OLD BLOG LIST 4 TRIP INFO)

3/3/2011:  “By Ryan”
Hi, our latest adventure is that Dad, Grandpa and Me drove to Geelong (near Melbourne)  for 2 days to see the Australian International Airshow. On Thursday, I left school early and Me and Dad began driving towards Melbourne. We quickly stopped at Murray Bridge to pick up Grandpa then continued driving. We stopped for dinner at a petrol station in Bordertown then drove to Ballarat where we stayed in a cabin. On Friday we left Ballarat and drove to Geelong were we went to the Airshow. The airshow is a very big show which has heaps of displays and presentaitions of helicopters, gliders, planes and jets. Some of my favourite shows were when a plane landed on a ute with a runway on its roof, the F-16 jet and the explosions. There were also fireworks, bombers, tanks, lasers, sky diving and a monster-truck. Because of my Dads work, we got to go in a few corpotate boxes where we got free food and drinks. The plane which landed on a truck was realy cool because it was painted in jelly beans!
The F-16 was realy cool because it would fly and turn so quick and the ground would shake!
There was a mini war demonstration which was cool because some jets flew past and they pretended to drop bombs and the bombs shook the ground and made heaps of smoke. After the airshow we drove to Melbourne and stayed in a cabin that I booked. The next day we drove around Melbourne lookings at lots and took heaps of pictures.
Some of the thing we looked at were :
- Docklands area, and the amazing bike rental system !
- Breakfast at Southbank
- Driving to the sports area (MCG, Tennis, Soccer etc)
- A quick lap of the Grand Prix track (not as quick as some others)
- Lastly we decided to go to the top of the new Eureka Skydeck which is a 92 storey tower which has the top 10 storeys coated in real gold. It was really fun looking out the windows at Melbourne city (including looking down on helicopters as we were so high up on the88th floor) and had the highest post box in Australia.

After that we decided to drive home for Mikayla birthday and to have a nice long rest after a very busy few days!.
