Chris and Ryan visited the Darwin Aviation Museum, before we went to the Trailer Boat Club for lunch on the Darwin foreshore with a guy from Chris' work (Danny) and his lovely family. The kids all had a fabulous play and swim in the pool while we chatted & relaxed. Perfect weather!

Day 29 (14/6) - Darwin - Bara Fishing and Croc Spotting
Chris, Ryan and I were up at 5:15am (I can’t think of the last time I was up that early!!!) to go fishing with one of the guys from Chris' work in Darwin. Dave took us in his boat out to Shady camp towards Kakadu for an amazing day on the water. Both Ryan and I caught a barramundi and we saw a heap of crocodiles (some were HUGE) and bird life. We had a great day!Day 30 (15/6) - Darwin to Kakadu
We restocked the pantry before leaving the big smoke to head to Kakadu. We stopped along the way at Fog Dam to look at birds, and the “Window to the Wetlands” visitor centre to better understand the area. Camped the night near Jabiru next to a beautiful billabong.Birds at Fog Dam

The beautiful view of our camping billabong
It’s hard to believe that we have already been travelling for 1 month!
We spent awhile at the Bowali visitor centre which was so educational. I was in the right spot at the right time to get a close up photo of a baby Sacred Kingfisher bird before it flew away. We all learnt a lot about this beautiful area and its people. Had a much needed stop at the Jabiru bakery before heading out bush to see the aboriginal paintings at Ubiir. Amazing scenery (where some of Crocodile Dundee was filmed). We spent awhile at Cahill’s river crossing bemused watching the water flow in both directions as the tide changed! Caught a beautiful sunset back at Ubiir rocks overlooking the wetlands.

More bush walks to aboriginal rock art in the morning at Nourlangie rock then we continued our drive around Kakadu. The kids loved having a swim in the pool at Cooinda where we had lunch. Camped at Gunlom Falls and loved the climb to the rock pools above the falls with the spectacular scenery below.
These three should be at school ?

A big thanks you to Sandy and the Scudd family, Kevin and Ruth for helping at Hire for Baby to make this happen for us.
Take care and stay warm , xxxxx
